Oli's surprise party was tonight and even without alcohol, everybody seemed to have a pretty good time. It was 80's workout themed and I looked like a gay wrestler ahah. Jumpers are pretty much the greatest thing ever. It was a fucking Royal Rum(bile) in there, with everybody at least getting "rescued" once. After the party, Danny and I hit up Famima!, in which I pulled in a pretty nice haul. Leninade is the most genius soda ever, and Ramune has the greatest way to open a bottle.

So since it was my mom's birthday, our LA trip was postponed. I decided to take Danny since it was his birthday as well, along with Mike to the hat, where we met up Oliver. Before I picked up Danny, I was surprised that Sufa was down here. We're probably going to hang out tonight. Continuing on, once again, the pastrami chili cheese fries kicked our asses. After spending an hour talking about pro wrestling Oli left, and the rest of us decided to drive around in the rain listening to post rock haha. Driving around Newport and Laguna in the heavy rain definitely was a sight to see. The massive puddles felt like the Jurassic Park ride and the post rock felt like we were in a movie.

Wow, just wow. I thought Razia's Shadow was album of the year, but I think I've been proved wrong. Have Heart's latest record absolutely just blew me away. I've just discovered this record after going on a hardcore binge. It was released back in July and I don't know why I did not listen to this sooner. Pat Flynn's vocals are just filled with raw emotion and passion. The intensity of his voice just left me awestruck. The final track is one of the most epic hardcore songs I've ever heard.
Definitely a song that would be surreal to be apart of at a show. The chanting to this song would ensue chaos. It seriously one of the most moving hardcore songs ever written. The album seems to have a common theme, which is is described here:

Start to finish, this record never ceased to impress me. Have Heart really is becoming one of my all time favorite hardcore bands, up there with Integrity and Converge. I really should have spent my Halloween at their show at Chain. I thought The Things We Carry was good, but IMO, HH have outdone themselves.

So right now, I should be watching WIG. But guess what, the show was 21+. Luckily I did not waste my time driving up there only to be rejected. The Spaceland, which is right next to the EchoPlex, is also a bar as well. The show flyer didn't say anything about age, but the website did. You do not know how much I was raging after I saw this. This is just not my week, my fucking Ipod erased yesterday for the second time in a month. I had to stay up putting back the songs and reorganizing it. I may hit up L.A tomorrow to visit the Elliott Smith wall and to check out Phillipe's French Dip. Until December 6h, seeing WIG and Mariqueen will have to wait to my dismay.

No Sympathy for a Sinking Ship.

While driving to school today, I saw something that would make most people cringe. On Edinger and Magnolia, some guy on a motorcycle got absolutely annihilated. The bike was wrecked, glass everywhere and a helmet on the floor surrounded in blood. The area was shut down, that side of the street closed off and covered with police tape. I've thought to myself after viewing this, that this kind of stuff doesn't phase me. I've become so desensitized over the years that even seeing gruesome things in person would barely affect me in the slightest. Am I a sick fuck by choice? Or is it because fucked up things that happen in the world are such a common occurrence that nothing really shocks me anymore. Gore and any other morbidness has always intrigued me, not because OMG BLOOD EVERYWHEREZ!, but because the reality of it is so brutal.

West Indian Girl is in two days. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a show. I've only listened to them for a couple of months, but they have for now taken the spot as my favorite band. Both albums are superb, especially the latest release, "4th and Wall". I've had both on repeat for days, as there are no filler songs. James and Mariqueen's harmonizing vocals are perfect for each other, as heard in Sofia and All My Friends. The psychedelic sound of this album makes me want to float away and not worry about anything. It's like a musical high, leaving you carefree. Not only does Mariqueen Maandig have a great voice, but she is amazingly beautiful, and I use the word beautiful RARELY. Being a Filipino is a plus too ahah. I really can't wait for this show. I'm ready for this religious experience that will change my life. On the way up there, I'm going to visit the Elliot Smith wall as it is literally a mile away.

Although it really isn't hard to believe on paper, Lesnar is now the HW Champ. Now I hope Nog rips through Mir and subs the shit out of Lesnar. It's still a big shock that someone who was in the WWE will probably dominate a joke of a HW division other than Nog/Zag/Carwin/Werdum. I give you all the credit Couture, 45 years old and you still were able to avoid some of Lesnar's takedowns. Other than that, the rest of the night went really good. KenFlo raped Stevenson, Gonzaga MURDERED Hendricks, which I may add that Zag has the best mean mug EVER, Hazelett is a submission god and Maia RNC'd Quarry. Another notable fight was Gurgel's. That flush nut shot was amazing, but not as amazing as that fucking Mortal Kombat style uppercut Stevens threw and Dos Anjos. Most of my predictions went well. Hey Lyle, you owe me 20 bucks AHAHA.

So tonight is the night. What is billed as the biggest fight in UFC history, Lesnar and Couture are ready for a war. I, personally am rooting for Couture. Lesnar is HUGE compared to Couture and way more faster and stronger, although Randy has the experience. Randy looks like the underdog, but we've seen what underdogs can do(I'm looking at you Werdum). As for the rest of the main card, I am undecided about Stevenson and Florian for the number 1 contender spot for the LW championship. I have a grudge against KenFlo as he beat Huerta (dreamboat ahah), but I also don't want to see Stevenson/Penn II as it was too brutal to see Joe Daddy all bloodied up. I also predict Gonzaga will wreck Hendricks and Maia will sub Quarry. As for Hazlett/McCrory, I don't really care for those two.

Anyways, good thing I did not go to MTB tonight because the freeway would've been a bitch. There's a fire in LA and Brea going on. Half the sky looked like Chieck Kongo while the other side was really blue.

After Meat called off the drinking bet, you think I would go straight to getting fucking wasted again. Weird thing is, I don't feel like drinking anymore. College is supposed to be about partying and what not, but to me it's whatevers. I also found it ironic that all the non-drinkers are becoming alcoholics. I will continue on my sober journey as long as I can, for pride rather than monetary rewards. This also means no weed either as I am looking for a job still. So if there's a frat party going on, don't fucking call me to be your DD. I don't care if you're too drunk to drive or can't find a ride home, you put that upon yourself by taking 1 shot too many. I also find it ironic that a straight edge band I was listening to had it's singer die of a drug overdose 5 years ago and one of the guitarists is now a bartender ahah. In unrelated news, I am considering getting a tattoo on my arm. I'm thinking the Glassjaw logo on my left arm or the Album Leaf symbol on my forearm. Yeah band logos may seem cliche, but you don't know how much these bands mean to me.
